The rabbit show

Hey guys! Lucy here with an update on the amazing rabbit show that we just got back from. Holy Cow! Let me tell you. I was not prepared for how awesome this weekend would be. I was expecting to have a lot of fun, but I didn’t know how many rabbit fans would be there. Nick ended up going with me. He took a lot of great photos. I’m going to have a lot of options of which ones to hang up on the walls of my office. When we arrived I thought this was going to be a small show with maybe like fifty people, but no, there was hundreds of folks there. I loved everyone’s rabbits so much. Molly and her babies were all loved by everyone.

I decided that I would show all three of my rabbits and I am so glad I did. This was my first show so I didn’t think I would win, but I thought that it would be good experience. However, it takes a lot to prepare. I must have combed their fur over and over and still couldn’t get it to look perfect. There was this guy there who literally had his rabbits looking perfect. He wouldn’t even let anyone near them because they might mess up their fur. I was ready and willing to let anyone play with my rabbits. I don’t own rabbits so I can win a blue ribbon. I own rabbits because I love them and I want them to bring joy to other people’s lives. I think that is exactly what they did at this show.

There was a boy at the show who was eleven years old and was born with no sight or hearing. Everyone was so afraid to let this little boy hold their rabbits. Well I wasn’t afraid. I let him hold Molly and he was so gentle with her and he constantly thanked me for letting him hold her. I learned how to sign thank you by letting him hold her so we both gained something. Well I think something about that moment impressed Nick because I felt him put his hand on my side like he was really proud of me. I looked up at him and he had that look. I don’t know how to explain it other than he had that look of “I think you’re really something special.” That definitely made me blush and I was glad the little boy couldn’t see how beet red I had turned, but his mother definitely could and she gave me a smile that let me know that she knew what was going on. It was embarrassing but it was cool too.

Showing the rabbits were fun but I didn’t take it nearly as seriously as the other people did. I felt like I was at one of those princess pageants. All of my rabbits did well, but we weren’t as well groomed as the rest of the showers. That’s fine though. Something that I found that I really liked was this vendor was selling these little bunny chairs. They look like a bean bag except they are for bunnies. I got three of them so all of my rabbits can sit in one if they want. I got two purple ones and one green one. Nick said that I must have liked to watched Barney the Dinosaur when I was younger because that was the colors of Barney. I did like that show when I was a kid, but something made me embarrassed to admit that.

Unfortunately we didn’t’ win anything at the show, however, someone did offer to buy Atticus from me, but I couldn’t sell him. He is still really attached to his mommy and it wouldn’t be fair to sell him and take him away from his mommy. I have to tell you that rabbit shows and like no other place I have ever been. There was so much going on. People were running around everywhere and all of them seemed to have a genuine passion for rabbits. That was refreshing considering how often people tease me for loving my rabbits so much. I don’t know if all of the people were as crazy about their rabbits as I am mine, but I could definitely tell I was around rabbit enthusiast. Well, I mean especially since there were booths everywhere promoting rabbit stuff and rabbit t-shirts. I bought four rabbit t-shirts of course. I think they are great. I even bought my mom and Nick one. I don’t know if they will wear them, but I really hope they will.

So that was about that at the rabbit show, but what happened while I was there was kind of special. I have been having to give Arani antibiotics because she got an eye infection. Apparently her eye got scratched and it got infected, but she is going to be alright. Anyway I was giving her medicine and talking to her telling her that everything was going to be ok and Nick came over. He told me that he had been thinking about us dating again. I couldn’t believe it because I had been thinking the same thing. I told him that too. Well he smiled and I smiled and we kissed. Yup, right there at the rabbit show. I don’t know if the rabbits were jealous or not, but I didn’t care for just a moment. I am thinking that maybe Nick might be more special that I thought he was. Anyway he asked me to dinner next week and I am very excited. I have been having trouble even thinking because of how excited I am. Anyway, we may not have won any prizes at the rabbit show, but that is ok because I got a date with Nick. I don’t know what will come of it, but I am definitely excited. I also think I might have caught the Show Fever Bug because I can’t wait to show the rabbits again. Maybe I will even try harder next time, who knows.

Just wanted to say her rabbits are gorgeous. Because of her, I started to charge $250-$600 for my Lionheads, holland and Netherlands I sell. Keep it up, thank you!
